U to U Exchange (University to University)

Students participating in university exchange

What is U to U Exchange?

The University to University (U to U) Exchange program is a bilateral mobility agreement that allows students from the English Studies Program to study for one semester at a partner university, either domestically or internationally. This program is built on established partnerships between UGM and other leading academic institutions. Unlike broader programs, the U to U Exchange is a direct swap that fosters deep academic and cultural immersion. Students enroll in courses at the host university, participate in campus life, and act as ambassadors for UGM. The credits earned during the exchange are fully transferable, allowing students to gain invaluable international experience without extending their study period.

Program Objectives

The primary goals of the U to U Exchange program are to:
  • Provide students with the opportunity to experience a different academic environment, including new teaching styles, course subjects, and research methods.
  • Enhance students’ cross-cultural communication skills and global perspectives by living and studying in a new cultural context.
  • Allow students to take specialized courses not offered at UGM, thereby deepening their knowledge in a specific area of English studies.
  • Foster personal development by promoting independence, adaptability, and resilience.
  • Strengthen international networks for students and build lasting institutional relationships between partner universities.
